“ Educating our Children to Define their own Reality ”

Curriculum

BSEI’s curriculum is holistic. In addition to teaching “reading, writing, & arithmetic”, BSEI utilizes the arts as an integral part of the core curriculum. We prepare our students to be mentally & emotionally astute, equipping them to thrive in today’s global society. Our curriculum was modeled to reflect our tagline “Educating Our Children to Define their Own Reality”. We give our students the tools to be successful and let them create their path as they see fit.

Methodology

The Black Star Educational Institute believes learning expands beyond 4 walls. The world is our classroom, and every moment with a child is a teachable one. The Educational Programs at BSEI include Critical Thinking, Character Development, International Studies, SAT/ACT prep, Early College through our Dual Enrollment Program, and Peer-to-Peer Support. BSEI adheres to Georgia standards, National standards, and International standards. Our aim is that every student will be prepared at least two years ahead of the standard US educational system.

Clusters

Our students learn in small, clustered classrooms. They are grouped by 3 grade levels, and rotate throughout their cluster as their educational needs change per academic area.

K4-2nd: Students are equipped with foundational skills for their social and academic development.

3rd-5th: Students in this cluster learn pertinent information for their academic levels, as well as social skills that will prepare the students to enter middle school.

6th-8th: This cluster exists to prepare students through Rites of Passage processes embedded within their curricula, as well as to ensure they are ready to go to high school.

9th-12th: This program is largely centered around internships. The students are placed in hands-on internships to apprentice in their chosen field of study. Our students also begin a joint enrollment program so they are able to enter college better prepared.

Our Teaching Philosophy

Teachers are critical to the educational process. Next to each and every student who enjoys learning, is someone who is invested in their success. Educators at BSEI are dynamic, knowledgeable, and passionate about their subject matter. Central to their educational approach is a commitment to the development of the whole child in the classroom. Through Personalized Learning Plans (PLP’s), we are able to ensure the needs of each child are met. Educators are trained utilizing various techniques to engage, captivative, and enhance the minds of the next generation of leaders.
